Sint-Andries is one of the districts of Bruges, on the western side of the historic centre. Where the medieval city is a tight egg-shape inside its ring canal, Sint-Andries is spread out and suburban. On a map, its twentieth-century streets and cul-de-sacs sit between patches of woodland, sports grounds and farmland that stretch west toward the coast.
The district is home to the Benedictine abbey of Sint-Andries, also known as Zevenkerken. Its grounds, and the park and woodland around it, form one of the largest green areas at the edge of Bruges.
