Swinton is a town in the City of Salford, Greater Manchester, a few miles northwest of Manchester city centre. Its map is a dense weave of terraced streets and interwar and postwar housing estates, the pattern of an industrial Lancashire town that grew around coal mining and textiles before merging into the wider conurbation.
