The Crossings is an unincorporated community in southwest Miami-Dade County, in the wider Kendall area. From above it looks like a lot of suburban South Florida: long straight section-line roads frame the edges, and inside them the residential streets curve, loop and end in cul-de-sacs, avoiding any through traffic.
Water is the other constant. Small artificial lakes, dug partly as fill for the land around them, sit between the housing tracts, and drainage canals follow the grid. On a monochrome print these pale shapes break up the dense pattern of streets and give the neighbourhood its recognisable outline among its near neighbours.
A The Crossings map poster keeps things simple: arterial roads as firm lines, local streets as fine tracery, water as open space. Nothing here is monumental, but the layout is typical of how Miami's suburbs grew westward toward the Everglades in the late twentieth century, one planned tract at a time.
Straight arterial roads on Miami-Dade's surveyed mile grid box the community in, giving the print a firm rectangular frame around the softer residential pattern.
Inside the grid, streets bend into loops and cul-de-sacs, so the map shows the looping pattern of late twentieth-century planned suburbs rather than a plain chequerboard.
Man-made lakes and drainage canals sit between the neighbourhoods and show as clean pale shapes, a reminder of how much water engineering underlies South Florida.

For families who grew up here, the loops and lakes of The Crossings are home streets, school runs and the walk to a friend's house. A print turns that everyday geography into something you can hang in a hallway or send to someone who has since moved away.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a move-in date or family name, and pick Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital file comes in six print sizes, or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
