Tikkotti, also written Thikkodi, lies on the Malabar Coast in Kozhikode district, northern Kerala. The map is long and thin. The Arabian Sea forms a nearly straight western edge, and the settlement stretches along it rather than gathering around a single centre. Lanes run inland from the beach between houses and coconut palms.
Parallel lines give the place its structure. The coastal railway runs just behind the shore, and the main road follows a similar course. Small cross-lanes link the two, producing a ladder-like pattern that is typical of this stretch of Kerala. Streams and backwater channels break the ladder in places and add a few curved lines to an otherwise linear layout.
The name is known well beyond the town. The Malayalam playwright and writer who wrote under the pen name Thikkodiyan took it from his birthplace. A Tikkotti map poster reduces all this to a quiet drawing of coast, rail and road, which is exactly how this part of Malabar looks from above.
The Arabian Sea coast runs almost straight past Tikkotti. On the poster it is a single long edge, with the dark water of Noir or the calm pale field of Paper on one side.
The coastal railway follows the shore closely. Its thin continuous line sits between the beach and the village lanes and ties Tikkotti to the rest of the Malabar Coast.
Short lanes run from the main road down toward the sand. Their repeated rhythm gives the map a fine, comb-like texture that is typical of Kerala's coastal villages.

Ko e hā ʻa Tikkotti
For people from Malabar, a coastline like this one carries the smell of rain and salt air. A map poster of Tikkotti is a way to keep home close, whether it hangs in Kozhikode, the Gulf or much further away.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be personalised. You might add a family house name or a wedding date. There are five styles to choose from: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
