Timika is the main town of Mimika Regency in Central Papua, on the broad lowland plain between the central mountain range and the Arafura Sea. It grew rapidly in the late twentieth century, largely in connection with the Grasberg mine in the highlands to the north, and remains the gateway through which people and supplies move toward the mountains.
The map reflects this recent growth. Rather than an old core, Timika has a spread of roads laid out across flat ground, with residential blocks filling in between the main routes. Rivers and drainage channels run southward across the plain, and the edges of the town give way quickly to dense forest and wetland.
Mozes Kilangin Airport, one of the key air links in the region, sits close to the town and appears as a long, straight runway amid the streets and green. A Timika map poster presents this layout clearly: a young town shaped by transport and industry at the edge of a vast, largely roadless landscape.
The runway of Mozes Kilangin Airport is the longest straight line on the map, a clear marker of how much the town depends on air connections.
Main roads stretch across level ground with few natural obstacles, forming broad, open blocks that give Timika a looser pattern than older Indonesian towns.
Waterways cross the lowland on their way south toward the Arafura Sea, winding lines that break up the built area and frame its outer edges.

Ko e hā ʻa Timika
Many people come to Timika for work, sometimes for years, and leave with a strong attachment to the place. A poster of its streets and runway is a simple way to mark that time, whether you lived there once or still do.
Set your own title and subtitle, perhaps a name and a year, and fine-tune the coordinates line. Choose from five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, and download the HD files or order a printed poster on matte paper.
