Torre Annunziata sits on the Bay of Naples, south-east of the city, between the sea and the lower slopes of Mount Vesuvius. Its streets run inland from the shore and uphill toward the volcano, forming a dense urban fabric that merges with the neighbouring towns along the coast. The harbour and seafront define its western edge.
The town stands on the site of ancient Oplontis, buried in the eruption of 79 AD. Excavations have uncovered a large Roman villa, often attributed to Poppaea, the wife of Nero, and it is now part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with Pompeii and Herculaneum. The town also has a long tradition of pasta production, supported by its mills and the sea air.
A Torre Annunziata map poster shows a coastal settlement built layer upon layer. Tight streets and older blocks sit near the water, larger roads and rail lines run parallel to the coast, and the built-up area thins as it climbs toward Vesuvius. It is a dense, textured image of a town with ancient foundations and a working port.

The port and seafront form the town's western edge on the Bay of Naples, with the coastline drawn as a firm line against open water.
Streets rise inland toward the lower flanks of the volcano. Built-up blocks gradually give way to more open ground on the higher slopes.
