Trastevere takes its name from its position trans Tiberim, across the Tiber, on the west bank of the river facing the historic centre of Rome. It is the thirteenth of the city's rioni, bounded by the curve of the river on one side and the ridge of the Janiculum, or Gianicolo, on the other. That setting gives the district a clear, enclosed shape on a map.
Inside, the streets are narrow and irregular, opening into small piazzas that act as local centres. Viale di Trastevere, laid out in the nineteenth century, cuts a straight, wide line through the older fabric. Bridges along the river link it to the other bank, among them Ponte Sisto, a Renaissance footbridge, and the ancient crossings via the Tiber Island.
The Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere, one of the oldest churches in Rome, stands on the piazza at the heart of the neighbourhood. Above it, the Janiculum offers some of the widest views across the city. A Trastevere map poster frames this compact web of streets against the river and turns one of Rome's most walked neighbourhoods into a precise drawing.
The river curves along the eastern edge of the district, and its embankments form a strong, clean line that separates Trastevere from the old centre opposite.
The small boat-shaped island in the river connects Trastevere to the far bank with two short bridges. It is one of the most recognisable shapes on any map of Rome.
West of the lanes, the ground climbs towards the Gianicolo, where winding roads and park space replace the dense grain of the lower district.

Ko e hā ʻa Trastevere
People frame Trastevere to remember evenings in its piazzas, a semester in Rome or a first apartment near the river. The district is compact, so individual lanes stay legible and the map reads well even at A3.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a street name or a wedding date, keep or rewrite the coordinates line, and pick from five styles, including Paper and Sand. Printed posters come on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame.
