Uddevalla lies on Sweden's west coast, at the inner end of the Byfjord, where the Bäveån river reaches the sea. From above, the centre fills the narrow valley floor by the harbour, while residential areas climb the rocky, wooded hills on either side. The fjord gives the map a long, clear stretch of water leading out to the west.
The town was long known for its large shipyard, which closed in the 1980s. The former harbour and industrial areas have since been reshaped. Gustafsberg, on the fjord's shore, is regarded as Sweden's oldest seaside resort. To the south, the Uddevalla Bridge carries the E6 high over the Sunninge sound.
An Uddevalla map poster brings these together: fjord, valley, hills and bridge. The streets are shaped by rock and water rather than a grid, so the map reads as a close study of how a Scandinavian coastal town fits its landscape.
A long arm of the sea reaches into the town. Its narrow, clean shape leads the eye from the harbour out toward the coast.
The cable-stayed E6 bridge crosses the Sunninge sound south of town, a clear straight line over open water on the map.
The centre sits on the valley floor by the Bäveån, and residential streets curl up the rocky, wooded slopes around it.

Uddevalla suits people who grew up on the Bohuslän coast, worked at the shipyard or spent summers by the fjord. It is a map with plenty of natural shape, which comes through clearly in every style.
