Växjö sits in the lake country of Småland, and water shapes the map more than anything else. The compact centre sits between Växjösjön to the north and Trummen to the south, with more lakes and forest around the town. Streets curve to follow the shorelines, and green paths and parks line much of the water's edge.
At the heart of the old town stands Växjö Cathedral, with its twin spires, near the lake and the park around it. To the south, Linnaeus University gives the city a large campus and a young population. Växjö has also become known for its long-standing environmental policy and has described itself as Europe's greenest city.

Trummen
South of the centre, Trummen lake is ringed by walking paths and the Linnaeus University campus. Its shoreline gives the southern half of the print a gentle curve.
