Mocoa Map Poster & Print
Mocoa is the capital of Putumayo Department in southern Colombia. It lies where the eastern slopes of the Andes meet the lowlands of the Amazon basin. On a map the town is a compact grid set on a narrow strip of valley floor. Several rivers and streams come down from the steep, forested hills and meet around it.
The rivers define the town. They run close to the streets and cut the urban area into distinct sections. In 2017 a severe flood and mudslide swept down several of these channels and caused great loss of life, and the town has since rebuilt. Beyond the grid, the terrain rises sharply to the west and flattens gradually to the east.
A Mocoa map poster shows a town set among converging waterways, with the mountains pressing in on one side. The pattern is simple: a small orderly centre surrounded by curving rivers and the soft outlines of hills. That simplicity makes a quiet, meaningful image.

Compact town grid
The central streets form a small, regular grid on the flat valley floor. It contrasts with the irregular terrain all around.
Andean foothills
Steep, forested slopes rise to the west. Their edge is traced by roads that follow the contours of the land.
