Ridge-line roads
The main routes follow the tops of the hills and avoid the steep slopes below. On the poster they form long, winding lines across the sheet.

Ngororero Map Poster & Print
Ngororero is the administrative centre of Ngororero District in Rwanda's Western Province, in the steep, heavily farmed hills between the central plateau and Lake Kivu. Rwanda is often described as the land of a thousand hills, and the map shows why. Roads run along ridge lines and bend sharply around the valley heads, and the town sits wherever the slope eases.
The layout is small and follows the terrain closely. A main road winds through, with offices, a market and houses set along it and on the short lanes branching off. Beyond the centre, footpaths and tracks lead down the hillsides into valleys that are almost entirely cultivated. Where watercourses are mapped, they run along the valley floors, well below the roads.
A Ngororero map poster shows how the hills govern everything here. The composition is made of curving roads, a few clustered streets and a lot of space. It is a quiet, honest portrait of a highland town that rarely appears on printed maps, and a meaningful piece for anyone who lives or has worked in the district.

Compact centre
The town's streets gather on a limited area of gentler ground. They form a small, clear focal point surrounded by the open expanse of the hills.
Valley tracks
Footpaths and minor roads drop from the ridges towards the valley floors. Their fine, branching lines hint at the farmed slopes that dominate the local landscape.
