Valley setting
The town fills a valley floor between mountain ridges, so its outline is shaped by the terrain rather than by a planned boundary.

Sakchu-ŭp Map Poster & Print
Sakchu-ŭp is the administrative centre of Sakchu County in North P'yŏngan Province, in the northwest of North Korea, not far from the border with China. The land around it is mountainous, and the town occupies valley ground where flat land is limited. On a map this produces a settlement shaped by terrain, with streets filling the available valley floor.
Roads and watercourses tend to run together in this kind of landscape, following the lowest route between ridges. Outside the built-up area, the map becomes sparse, with a few lines tracing valleys into the hills. The contrast between the compact town and the empty space around it creates a clear, strong composition.
A Sakchu-ŭp map poster presents this mountain setting in simple linework: the town in its valley, the roads that follow streams and the open ground beyond. It is a restrained way to mark a place that few outsiders see, and one that holds meaning for people with family connections to the region.

Roads along streams
Routes into and out of the town follow valleys and watercourses, the natural paths through steep, hilly country.
Sparse surroundings
Beyond the town, the map opens into mostly empty mountain terrain, giving the settlement a clear, strongly defined shape on the page.
