South El Monte Map Poster & Print
South El Monte is a small city in Los Angeles County, in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley. It lies just south of El Monte and north of the Whittier Narrows. From above, it is a mix of fairly regular residential grids and larger industrial blocks, which cover a big share of its land.
Its edges are clearly defined. The Pomona Freeway, State Route 60, runs through the south of the city. The Rio Hondo channel runs along the western side, and the San Gabriel River is a short distance to the east. To the south, the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area opens up a wide expanse of parkland, lakes and flood basin.
A South El Monte map poster shows a working city shaped by rivers and freeways. The straight lines of the industrial blocks, the small residential streets and the open green space to the south create a balanced, graphic composition typical of the Los Angeles basin.

Rio Hondo channel
The concrete-lined channel runs along the western edge of the city. On the poster it is a clean, strong line separating South El Monte from its neighbours.
Whittier Narrows
The large recreation area and flood basin lie just to the south. They create an open, green expanse with lakes and trails at the bottom of the map.
