Gentle eastern hills
The land in this part of the Eastern Province is lower and softer than elsewhere in Rwanda, so roads curve gently across it instead of zigzagging up steep slopes.

Umutara Map Poster & Print
Umutara is the historical name for the area of north-eastern Rwanda around Nyagatare, which was its own province until the administrative reform of 2006. The landscape is unlike Rwanda's steep, terraced west. The hills here are lower and gentler, the land is drier, and much of it has long been used for grazing cattle.
On a map, the settled area appears as a loose network of roads and blocks in a broad, open setting. Tracks run out across the grassland toward farms and smaller settlements, and valleys with seasonal streams add soft lines between the ridges. The main impression is of space, with the town as a modest cluster of streets in the middle.
An Umutara map poster suits this kind of place well. Instead of a dense grid, it shows a scattered, organic pattern of roads following the terrain, set against large areas of open ground. The result is a minimal, airy print that reflects Rwanda's eastern savanna rather than the crowded hills around its cities.

Roads into grassland
Long tracks leave the town toward the surrounding farms and grazing land, drawing thin lines that spread out into the open space of the poster.
Town cluster
The built-up area forms a compact group of blocks and plots where the main roads meet, a small focal point in a very wide landscape.
