Petauke is a town in Zambia's Eastern Province, set on the Great East Road that links Lusaka with Chipata and the border with Malawi. From above, the highway forms the backbone of the town, with the main commercial strip along it and residential areas spreading out to either side in a mix of planned blocks and looser clusters of houses.
