Tieqiao is a town in the north-east of Chongqing Municipality, in the steep, folded country north of the Yangtze. Unlike the flat grids of the plains, the map here is shaped by terrain: the built-up area follows the floor of a valley, and roads snake along hillsides, doubling back on themselves as they climb toward neighbouring villages.
