Agger valley corridor
River, road and railway share the valley floor, running side by side through the town. On the poster they form a bundle of parallel lines that gives the map its direction.

Engelskirchen Map Poster & Print
Engelskirchen lies in the Oberbergischer Kreis, east of Cologne, in the valley of the Agger. The map is shaped by that valley. The town stretches along the river in a long, narrow band, with the main road and railway following the same corridor. Side streets climb only a little way up the slopes before giving way to woodland.
The river once powered the town's industry. The Ermen & Engels cotton mill, linked to the family of Friedrich Engels, operated here, and the site is now part of the LVR Industrial Museum. Engelskirchen is also known in Germany for its Christmas post office, which answers letters children send to the Christkind each year.
An Engelskirchen map poster follows the Agger as it winds through the valley, with the town pressed along its banks. Smaller settlements sit in the side valleys, joined by roads that follow streams into the hills. The result is a slender, flowing composition where the river is the backbone and the forest sets the frame.

Former cotton mill
The historic Ermen & Engels mill site sits beside the river in the town centre. It is a reminder of the water-powered industry that shaped Engelskirchen.
Wooded hillsides
Forests cover the slopes on both sides of the valley, so the street network ends quickly. The empty space around the town makes its linear shape especially clear.
