Airport runway
The runway of Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport is the most striking straight line on the map, a clean bar that contrasts with the winding residential streets around it.

Les Abymes Map Poster & Print
Les Abymes lies on Grande-Terre in Guadeloupe and surrounds Pointe-à-Pitre on the land side, so its map is a patchwork rather than a single town. Residential districts spread across low hills, main roads loop around the edge of the city centre, and the long straight runway of Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport sits within the commune. Toward the coast the street network dissolves into mangrove and wetland.
It is the most populous commune in Guadeloupe, larger than the neighbouring city of Pointe-à-Pitre itself. Much of that growth came in the twentieth century as people moved from the countryside toward the port and its economy. Wetlands along the shore, close to the channel of the Rivière Salée that separates Grande-Terre from Basse-Terre, remain an important natural feature.
A Les Abymes map poster shows an unusual composition: a dense ring of urban districts, a bold runway as its strongest straight line, and soft, irregular coastal edges where mangroves meet the sea. It is less a postcard of a single town than a drawing of how people actually live across the island's main urban area, day to day.

Mangrove coastline
Along the shore the streets stop and the land becomes a lacework of wetland and small channels, giving the map a soft, organic edge facing the water.
Ring of neighbourhoods
Residential districts wrap around Pointe-à-Pitre in a broad arc, each with its own knot of lanes and connecting roads, stitched together by the main routes of Grande-Terre.
