The confluence
The Meta joins the Orinoco at the edge of town. On the poster, the meeting of two broad rivers forms a clear angle that frames the whole settlement.

Puerto Carreño Map Poster & Print
Puerto Carreño is the capital of Vichada, Colombia's easternmost department, and its setting is defined almost entirely by rivers. The town stands where the Meta flows into the Orinoco, and the banks opposite it belong to Venezuela. On a map the streets form a compact grid pressed into the angle between the two rivers, with wide water along the northern and eastern edges.
Beyond the town lie the Orinoquía plains, the llanos, where savanna stretches for long distances and roads are few. The Orinoco is broad here, and rocky outcrops appear along its banks. Much of the region's travel still happens by boat and small plane. The airport and river landings are the town's main links to the rest of Colombia, which is far away by road.
A Puerto Carreño map poster is unusual among city maps because water takes up so much of the frame. The rivers are the main subject rather than background decoration, and the small street grid reads almost like an island between them. For anyone who has worked on the border, fished these rivers or travelled toward the Orinoco, it is an honest picture of the place.

Border on water
The far banks are Venezuelan, so the rivers serve as an international boundary. The map shows two countries facing each other across a wide stretch of open water.
Compact grid
The town's streets follow a tight rectilinear layout. Its small blocks contrast sharply with the sweeping, irregular curves of the riverbanks around it.

Maʼnoga ega xarita
This map suits someone who knows the Orinoquía: a family from Vichada, a former posting at the border, or a fishing trip on the Orinoco. It shows how remote and river-bound the town really is, which a photograph rarely manages.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and there are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint and Noir make the rivers especially striking. The digital files cost $9, and printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
