Te mapa
Akbou stands in the Soummam valley in the Béjaïa province of Kabylie. That valley shapes everything the map shows. The river, the railway and the main roads all follow the same northeast-to-southwest line, so the town stretches along the valley floor. Where the ground starts to rise, the streets climb and fold into the slopes.
From above, the contrast is striking. The flat, open valley bottom is laid out in fields and newer districts. Around it, mountain villages cling to ridges, reached by winding roads that loop back on themselves. Akbou is the working centre of this middle stretch of the valley, and the town is well known across Algeria for its food-processing and dairy industries.
An Akbou map poster captures that layering: a straight corridor of river and transport routes down the middle, a denser urban core beside it, and on either side the contour-hugging roads of the hill villages. Printed in black and white, the valley reads almost like a cross-section of Kabylie.
The river's braided bed runs through the lower part of the map. Road and rail keep close beside it, forming a long diagonal band that anchors the whole composition.
Roads leading up to the surrounding villages twist tightly along the slopes. These loops add fine, calligraphic detail to the edges of the frame.
The main urban area spreads over the flat land beside the river. Its denser grid of streets contrasts clearly with the looser mountain settlements above.

Koteā ko Akbou
For families from the Soummam valley, and for the many Kabyles living abroad, Akbou is more than a dot on a road map. A poster of the valley, with its river and ridges, is a quiet reminder of where home sits in the landscape.
