Te mapa
Alba Iulia lies in the Mureș valley in central Romania, and from above it is instantly recognisable. On higher ground on the western side of the city sits Alba Carolina, a star-shaped fortress the Habsburgs built in the eighteenth century in the Vauban style. Its seven bastions form one of the most striking outlines of any European city plan.
Below the fortress, the lower town spreads east toward the Mureș, with a more ordinary pattern of streets, avenues and residential blocks. Inside the walls stand the Roman Catholic St Michael's Cathedral and the Orthodox Coronation Cathedral, where King Ferdinand and Queen Marie were crowned in 1922. The site also preserves traces of the Roman fort of Apulum.
Alba Iulia holds a central place in Romanian history. On 1 December 1918 an assembly here proclaimed the union of Transylvania with Romania, and that date is now the national day. An Alba Iulia map poster brings together that history and a remarkable plan, with the geometric fortress standing out against the curving river and the surrounding fields.
The star-shaped fortress with its seven bastions dominates the map. It is a sharply defined geometric figure that stands out in every style, from Blueprint to Sand.
The walled citadel on its terrace and the lower town reaching toward the river form two distinct street patterns, one planned and enclosed, the other open.
The river curves past the eastern side of the city through a broad floodplain, giving the poster a soft natural line opposite the fortress walls.

Koteā ko Alba Iulia
Alba Iulia is a meaningful print for Romanians, especially around 1 December, and for anyone interested in fortification design. The star fortress makes it one of the most graphic city maps you can hang on a wall.
Add a title, a subtitle such as 1 December 1918 or a wedding date, and the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
