Te mapa
Alma sits at the eastern outlet of Lac Saint-Jean, the point where the lake's waters leave through two channels, the Grande Décharge and the Petite Décharge, which together become the Saguenay River. This gives the town a map shape unlike most: neighbourhoods divided by moving water, joined by bridges, with a large island held between the two outflows.
Water also explains Alma's industry. The Isle-Maligne hydroelectric station controls the Grande Décharge, and power from the region's rivers supports a large aluminium smelter on the edge of town. These installations show up as bold, wide shapes, while residential streets fill the land between them in orderly blocks laid out through the twentieth century.
Further out, the map opens onto the broad expanse of the lake to the west and forest and farmland in other directions. An Alma map poster frames a town defined by where the water goes, making it a particularly graphic choice for anyone with roots in the Lac-Saint-Jean region or memories of summers on its shores.
The Grande Décharge and Petite Décharge split the town, drawing two curving bands of water that carry the lake eastward and meet downstream as the Saguenay.
The large island between the channels holds part of the town's streets and green space, reached by bridges that appear as short, strong links across the water.
To the west the map meets the wide, open lake, a large calm area of water that contrasts with the busier street pattern around the outlets.

Koteā ko Alma
People from Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean are deeply attached to this landscape, and Alma, with its bridges and channels, is where lake and river meet. A map of it suits a cottage, a family room or the home of someone who has moved away.
Personalise the title and subtitle, in French or English, and set the coordinates to a street or a favourite spot on the water. Five styles are available, including Blueprint and Noir, as instant HD files or a printed poster with an optional frame.
