Te mapa
Amambai is in the south of Mato Grosso do Sul in Brazil, on the high, gently rolling plateau near the border with Paraguay. From above, the town is a neat grid of wide blocks, typical of towns in Brazil's centre-west that were laid out during the twentieth century. The edges of the grid open quickly into large farm fields and pasture.
The layout is simple and clear. Straight avenues cross the centre, with a main square and public buildings near the middle. Residential blocks spread evenly around them. Beyond the town, long rural roads cut through the agricultural land in straight lines, and small streams and patches of woodland add softer shapes here and there.
The municipality is home to a large Guarani-Kaiowá population, with indigenous lands nearby, and its economy is closely tied to farming and ranching. An Amambai map poster shows the town as a tidy grid on open land, a design built from straight lines and generous space.

Wider avenues cross the centre and lead toward the main square. They stand out as the strongest lines in the grid.
Long rural roads cut straight through the fields around the town. They extend the geometry of the grid out to the edges of the map.
