Te mapa
Arhribs, also written Aghribs, is a commune in Tizi Ouzou province, Algeria, in the mountains of Great Kabylie. Its map looks nothing like a lowland town. Settlement is spread across the ridgelines as a series of villages, each a tight knot of houses, connected by roads that twist along the crests and down the slopes between them.
Between the ridges, steep valleys cut through the landscape, and olive groves and forest cover much of the hillsides. The terrain drops northward toward the Mediterranean coast, which is not far away, and the road network reflects that relief. There are few straight lines, many hairpin bends and branching tracks that follow the lie of the land.
The Kabyle village, set on a ridge with views over the valleys, is one of the most recognisable settlement forms of northern Algeria, and the area around Arhribs shows it clearly. An Arhribs map poster traces this pattern of ridges and villages, a mountain geography expressed entirely in lines, where every road reveals the shape of the ground beneath it.
Houses cluster along the crests in compact groups, so the map shows several small dense centres rather than one. Narrow roads link each village to its neighbours.
Roads trace the relief in tight curves and switchbacks, producing a looping, calligraphic network quite unlike the grids of the plains.
Deep valleys run north toward the Mediterranean. Their streams and slopes separate the ridges and give the whole area a strong sense of direction.

Koteā ko Arhribs
For Kabyle families at home and abroad, a map of Arhribs can hold the paths and villages that are part of their personal history. The ridges and roads make an intricate, graceful composition that suits a minimalist print.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line are yours to set, so the poster can read Arhribs or Aghribs as you prefer. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Digital files in six sizes cost $9, and printed posters can be ordered as well.
