Te mapa
Ath lies in the province of Hainaut, in western Wallonia, where two branches of the Dender river meet and continue northward as a canalised waterway. On a map the river and its locks make a strong, measured line along the town. The historic centre gathers nearby in a compact, roughly oval shape around the Grand-Place.
The town is best known for its Ducasse, held in late August, when giant figures including Goliath parade through the streets. The festival is part of the processional giants of Belgium and France listed by UNESCO as intangible heritage. The medieval Burbant Tower, a squat keep near the centre, is one of the oldest buildings in the town.
An Ath map poster presents the town as a clear composition: a dense old core, boulevards following the line of its former fortifications, the calm waterway and the roads that run out across the flat farmland of Hainaut. It makes a quiet, well-balanced print.
The canalised river passes the town in straight, managed sections with locks and quays. Its disciplined line contrasts with the older streets.
The main square sits at the heart of a compact, irregular centre. The streets that carry the Ducasse procession all lead to it.
Boulevards trace the outline of the old fortifications around the centre, forming a clear ring that separates the historic core from later districts.

Ath has a strong local identity, and this map suits anyone who returns every August for the giants or grew up within sound of the Ducasse. The compact core and waterway also make it an elegant print for people with no connection to Belgium.
