Auburn is shaped by Auburn University, whose campus fills much of the centre of the map with quads, playing fields, parking areas and curving internal roads. Directly to the north, a compact downtown grid meets the campus at Toomer's Corner, where the celebration of rolling the oak trees with toilet paper follows football victories.
