Te mapa
Barbacha is in Béjaïa Province in north-eastern Algeria, in the mountains of Petite Kabylie. It is not a single compact town. The commune is made up of villages spread along ridges and hillsides, and the map reflects that dispersed pattern, with clusters of buildings on high ground and roads winding between them.
The terrain is steep and deeply folded, cut by valleys and streams that drain toward the lowlands and the coast. Olive groves and small terraced fields cover the lower slopes, and the roads between the villages twist in tight curves as they follow the contours of the land.
Like much of Kabylie, Barbacha is a Berber-speaking area where village life remains closely tied to its hills and family ties, and each village keeps its own name and identity. A Barbacha map poster draws those hilltop settlements and serpentine roads as a delicate, organic network, shaped entirely by terrain rather than by any planner's grid.
Settlements sit along ridges and spurs, forming separate clusters that read on the map as a string of small, dense marks across the hills.
Roads switch back and forth to follow the steep terrain, drawing expressive curving lines that give the poster much of its character.
Narrow valleys and watercourses cut between the ridges, adding branching lines that reveal the folded shape of the mountain landscape.

Koteā ko Barbacha
For Kabyle families in Algiers, France or Canada, the map of Barbacha is a portrait of the village of origin: the roads walked to school and the slopes of the family olive groves. It keeps a mountain home within reach.
Customise the title, subtitle and coordinates with the village name, a family name or a date. Choose one of five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the HD files for $9 or order a matte printed poster.
