Baza Map Poster & Print
Baza lies in the northeast of the province of Granada, at the edge of the high basin known as the Hoya de Baza. The Sierra de Baza rises to the south. On a map the old core is a dense knot of irregular streets, and newer districts spread outward in straighter, more ordered blocks.
The town has a long history. In 1971 an Iberian stone sculpture now known as the Dama de Baza was found nearby, and it is now held in the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid. Baza's Arab baths are among the older surviving bathhouses of their kind in Spain.
A Baza map poster shows these layers clearly. The narrow, twisting lanes of the Moorish and medieval quarters sit next to the regular grid of later growth. Beyond them lies the open, dry landscape of the basin, crossed by country roads.
