Benbrook lies on the southwestern edge of Fort Worth in Tarrant County, Texas. On the map, Benbrook Lake is the dominant feature: a large reservoir with an irregular, branching shoreline south of the town. Curving residential streets and cul-de-sacs spread to the north and around the shore, with golf courses, parks and open land in between.
The lake was created by damming the Clear Fork of the Trinity River, mainly for flood control. It is now a popular spot for boating, fishing and camping. The town grew as a residential suburb of Fort Worth and keeps a quieter, more spread-out character than the city next door.
