Clock tower centre
The old centre gathers around the eighteenth-century clock tower. Its short streets and small squares form the densest part of the map, where most of the town's history is concentrated.

Te mapa
Berkovitsa sits where the plains of northwestern Bulgaria meet the Balkan mountains, known locally as Stara Planina. The town lies in a valley that narrows toward the south, and its street pattern follows that shape. It is denser and flatter to the north, then thins into winding lanes as the ground rises toward forested ridges and the peak of Kom.
The centre is marked by a stone clock tower from the eighteenth century, one of the town's best-known landmarks. The writer Ivan Vazov lived here while serving as a judge, and his time in Berkovitsa is remembered in a house museum. From town, the road toward the Petrohan pass climbs into the mountains and on toward Sofia.
A Berkovitsa map poster shows a place shaped by slope. The regular blocks of the lower town loosen into curving streets that follow the contours, and streams run down from the hills. The road into the mountains fades out toward the edge of the frame, suggesting the high country beyond.

Berkovitsa sits where a mountain valley opens onto lower ground. The map shows the built-up area narrowing and thinning as it pushes south into the slopes of the Balkan range.
The route toward the Petrohan pass winds out of town in long bends. It is one of the few strong lines leading into the mountains, where settlement gives way to forest.

Koteā ko Berkovitsa
Berkovitsa means mountain air, spring water and the view up toward Kom for many who grew up or holidayed there. A map of the town keeps those streets and slopes close, whether it hangs in a Sofia apartment or a home much farther away.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be changed to mark a family house, a wedding or a return visit. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Digital files cost $9 and include six print sizes at 300 DPI, with no watermark.
