Bīdāsar is a town in Churu district in the north of Rajasthan, on the edge of the Thar Desert. The land around it is dry and sandy, with scattered villages and farmland that depends on the seasons. On a map, the town is a compact, closely built area surrounded by a lot of open space, with roads leading to neighbouring towns.
The older part of Bīdāsar has narrow streets that bend between houses and small open spaces, as in many historic towns of the Shekhawati and Bikaner regions. Newer building is spread along the main roads. The contrast between the dense centre and the wide surroundings is especially strong here.
