Te mapa
Bombinhas occupies a peninsula next to Porto Belo on the coast of Santa Catarina. It is one of the smallest municipalities in the state by area, and it is known for clear water and diving. The Arvoredo marine biological reserve lies offshore, which draws divers and snorkellers to the area.
The map is shaped by the sea. The peninsula's edge breaks into many small bays, and each one holds a beach with a band of streets behind it. Wooded hills fill the interior and push development towards the lowlands, so the neighbourhoods look like separate pockets linked by roads that climb over the ridges.
A Bombinhas map poster makes this intricate outline the main subject. Few places this size have so much coastline for so little land. On paper, the coves, headlands and short grids of beach streets form a detailed composition that rewards a closer look.
The shore alternates between curved sandy bays and rocky points. This scalloped edge gives the peninsula its unmistakable shape on the map.
Each bay has its own small grid of streets behind the sand, and the pockets are separated from each other by the higher ground between them.
The hilly centre of the peninsula stays largely unbuilt. It shows as open space crossed by a few roads connecting one side to the other.
