Te mapa
Burien lies in King County, Washington, south of Seattle on the eastern shore of Puget Sound. It became a city in 1993, though the community is much older. It takes its name from Gottlieb Burian, an early settler who lived beside the small lake now known as Lake Burien.
The land slopes down to the Sound and is cut by wooded ravines and creeks. Along the shore, residential streets curve and end above the water. Inland, the pattern straightens into a more regular grid around the downtown core and the main roads. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport lies just to the east, with its long runways at the edge of the frame.
A Burien map poster balances these elements: the jagged shoreline and waterfront parks in the west, the gridded centre in the middle and the airport's parallel runways at the edge. Lake Burien forms a compact shape among the streets, a small but recognisable detail that locals will spot right away.
The western edge of the city follows the Sound. Coves, bluffs and waterfront parks such as Seahurst Park form a long, irregular coastline.
The small lake that gave the city its name sits among residential streets. Its neat, enclosed shape stands out clearly against the surrounding grid.
Just east of Burien, the parallel runways of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport add strong, straight lines that contrast with the curves of the shoreline.

Koteā ko Burien
For many people, Burien is where they first settle in the Seattle area. Its map is instantly familiar to anyone who has watched planes come in low over the Sound. The print keeps that mix of water, streets and runways on the wall.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can mark a first home, a wedding or a street. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir makes the shoreline stand out against a dark background, while Classic stays crisp and neutral.
