Te mapa
Cahors is built on a peninsula formed by a deep meander of the Lot River in south-western France. From above the shape is unmistakable: the river curls almost completely around the old town, leaving only a narrow neck of land to the north. The medieval centre fills the eastern half of the loop, where lanes are closely packed near the cathedral.
A long, straight boulevard runs north to south through the middle of the peninsula and roughly separates the older quarter from the more open streets to the west. Several bridges cross the river. The best known is the Pont Valentré, a fourteenth-century bridge with three tall towers, one of the most recognisable medieval bridges in Europe.
The limestone hills around the town rise steeply from the water and are cut by roads climbing out of the valley. The region is also known for its dark red wine made largely from Malbec. On a Cahors map poster, the meander does most of the work: a bold, almost closed curve that frames the town like a natural border.
The river wraps around the town in a nearly complete loop. That curve gives Cahors one of the most distinctive outlines of any French town.
On the western side of the loop, the fortified bridge crosses the Lot on its piers. On the map its straight line cuts across the curve of the river.
A long, straight avenue runs up the spine of the peninsula. It divides the dense medieval quarter from the more regular streets beside it.

Koteā ko Cahors
Cahors appeals to anyone who loves a map with a strong, clear shape. The river loop makes the town instantly recognisable, whether you studied here, travelled the Lot valley, or have a bottle of the local wine in memory.
You can personalise the title, the subtitle and the coordinates line, adding a date or a short phrase. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper gives the loop an old-atlas look.
