Cardito lies in the Metropolitan City of Naples, on the flat plain north of the city. On the map it is hard to say where it ends. Its streets run straight into neighbouring towns such as Afragola, Caivano and Crispano, and together they form part of a continuous built-up area that covers much of the plain between Naples and Caserta.
At the centre the street pattern is dense and irregular, with narrow roads, small squares and closely packed buildings. Newer districts spread outward in larger, more regular blocks. Between them, surviving patches of farmland show up as open gaps, and the main roads cut through in long, straight lines that link Cardito with the rest of the conurbation.
Like many towns in the area, Cardito grew from a farming village into part of the wider Naples conurbation.
