Te mapa
Casamassima sits on the gently rising ground inland from Bari, and from above it shows two clear layers. At the centre is a compact old town of narrow lanes, packed so close that the streets look like fine cracks in a single block. Around it, later neighbourhoods follow more regular lines, and beyond them the roads run straight into open farmland.
The old centre is known locally as the blue town, because many houses in the historic quarter were traditionally painted blue. A map cannot show colour, but it can show the density of that quarter, with its short alleys and small courtyards, and the way it sits apart from the looser modern grid that grew around it through the twentieth century.
A Casamassima map poster works best when the frame takes in part of the countryside as well. The olive groves and field boundaries of central Apulia leave a fine, patchwork texture of lines, and the roads toward Bari and the neighbouring towns stretch across it. Together they place the town in its landscape rather than cutting it off at the edge.
The historic centre is a dense knot of narrow lanes and tight blocks, easy to pick out on the map against the wider streets of the surrounding districts.
Straight roads leave the town in several directions, linking it to Bari and nearby Apulian towns across flat, open ground.
Beyond the built edge, field boundaries and farm tracks form a fine mesh of lines typical of the Apulian countryside.

Koteā ko Casamassima
People hang this map to remember a family town, a summer spent in Apulia, or a place they return to between visits to the coast. The contrast between the dense centre and the open fields gives the print a quiet, balanced composition.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example to add a family name or a year, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper and Sand suit the warm southern light especially well.
