Charef Map Poster & Print

Charef is a town in Djelfa Province, in the high plateau region of central Algeria. The surroundings are semi-arid steppe that stretches between the Tell Atlas to the north and the Saharan Atlas to the south. On a map, the town is a clearly bounded settlement surrounded by wide, lightly marked land.

Inside that boundary, the street pattern is fairly regular. Residential blocks are arranged along main roads that lead out toward neighbouring towns and the provincial capital, Djelfa. Past the last houses, the map empties quickly, with only tracks, dry stream beds and the occasional road crossing the steppe.

A Charef map poster captures that strong contrast between the town and the open country around it. It has no coastline or river to lean on, so the composition relies on the settlement's shape and the lines radiating from it. The effect is spare and quiet, and it suits a minimalist interior.

01

Bounded town

The settlement forms a defined shape on the plateau, with dense residential blocks that end abruptly where the steppe begins.

02

Radiating roads

A few main roads leave the town in different directions, linking it to the wider Djelfa region and giving the map a clear structure.

03

Steppe emptiness

Beyond the edge of town, dry watercourses and faint tracks cross open land, leaving broad white space around the central cluster.
