Te mapa
Châtelineau is a former municipality in Wallonia, Belgium, now part of Châtelet, just east of Charleroi. The Sambre river runs between Châtelineau and Châtelet, and the map is organised around it: the river, its bridges and the dense streets that spread from both banks into the surrounding hills.
This is the old Pays Noir, the black country of Belgian coal and steel, and its industrial past shows in the long rail lines, riverside plots and rows of terraced houses. Châtelineau merged into Châtelet in 1977, but it has kept a distinct identity and centre on its own side of the Sambre.
A Châtelineau map poster brings out the character of a river town built around industry. The winding line of the Sambre, the bridges crossing it, and the closely packed brick streets around it make a dense but readable image, especially in the heavier Noir and Blueprint styles.
The river curves through the area, separating Châtelineau from Châtelet and forming the main natural line on the map.
Several bridges link the two banks, short strong strokes connecting the dense streets of Châtelineau to Châtelet opposite.
Rail lines, riverside industrial plots and rows of terraced housing reflect the area's coal and steel heritage in the Charleroi basin.

Koteā ko Châtelineau
For families rooted in the Charleroi basin, including the many whose parents or grandparents came to work in the mines, Châtelineau is where their story in Belgium began. A map of it is both local and personal.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, with a family name, a street or a date, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the HD files or have it printed and framed.
