Te mapa
Colonia Wanda is in the north of Misiones province, the narrow wedge of Argentina that pushes between Paraguay and Brazil. From above, the town follows the regional highway that links the province's river towns. Its streets branch off that spine into blocks that give way quickly to farmland and patches of subtropical forest. The Paraná River runs close by to the west.
The town was founded in the 1930s by settlers from Poland and takes its name from Wanda, a figure from Polish legend. That origin still shows in local churches and family names. Wanda is best known for its mines of semi-precious stones. Amethyst, agate and quartz are dug from the surrounding hills and shown to visitors who stop on the way to or from Iguazú.
In print, the place becomes a spare composition. A single road carries the town, a loose grid sits around it, and rural tracks wander off into open ground. A Colonia Wanda map poster shows how a settlement carved out of forest organised itself along one line of travel, with the river always somewhere near the edge of the frame.
The main road through Misiones runs straight through town. Most streets hang off it at right angles, so the route reads as the backbone of the whole map.
The mines that made Wanda known lie in the surrounding hills. On the map they show up as quiet rural tracks leading away from the town grid into wooded ground.
The wide Paraná River forms the border with Paraguay a little to the west. At larger scales it enters the frame as a broad, calm band of water.

Koteā ko Colonia Wanda
Wanda means something specific to the families who settled it and to travellers who stopped to see the stones. A map of its few streets makes a quiet reminder of a place far from anywhere, and of the road that ties it to the rest of Misiones.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name or a founding date. Then pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
