Te mapa
Columbia City is a neighbourhood in southeast Seattle, in the Rainier Valley. It began as a separate town and was annexed by Seattle in 1907, and its small historic commercial district along Rainier Avenue South still shows that origin. From above, the area is a regular grid of residential blocks, cut diagonally by Rainier Avenue as it runs through the valley.
To the west, Martin Luther King Jr. Way carries the Link light rail line, with the Columbia City station drawing a clear point on the map. To the east, the streets climb and then drop toward Lake Washington, where parks and a winding shoreline road meet the water. The neighbourhood sits neatly between these two strong lines.
A Columbia City map poster shows how the diagonal avenue, the rail corridor and the lake frame a quiet grid of houses and small parks. It is a neighbourhood map rather than a city map, detailed enough that residents can find their own block, the station, and the routes they take to the water.
The avenue runs at an angle through the grid, with the historic business district strung along it, giving the map its most distinctive line.
Martin Luther King Jr. Way and the Link line form a long, straight edge on the west side of the neighbourhood, with a station at Columbia City.
East of the neighbourhood, streets reach parkland and the lakeshore, where the regular grid gives way to curving roads and open water.

Columbia City is a neighbourhood with a strong local identity, and people who live here tend to think of it as its own place within Seattle. A map of its blocks makes a good housewarming gift or a reminder of a first home in the city.
