Te mapa
Coronel Oviedo, capital of the Caaguazú Department, sits in Paraguay's eastern interior at an important road junction. The main highway from Asunción toward Ciudad del Este passes through the city, and another national route crosses it from north to south. The urban area has grown around this intersection, with a fairly regular grid of blocks spreading outward in every direction.
The centre is organised around plazas and straight streets. Toward the edges the blocks grow larger and looser, then give way to rolling farmland and patches of woodland. The Coronel Oviedo map poster captures this shape: two highways crossing near the centre, a grid filling the spaces between them, and open country around the whole.
The city is named after Florentín Oviedo, a colonel who served in the War of the Triple Alliance. Its position on the main east-west corridor has made it a regional centre for trade, services and education, serving much of central-eastern Paraguay and connecting the capital with the border region.
Two national routes meet in the city and cross the map as long, strong lines. They set out the basic structure of the whole urban area.
Most of the city is laid out in straight streets and square blocks. The grid gives the poster an even, steady texture between the highways.
Beyond the built-up area, farmland and woodland stretch across gently rolling ground. Only a few rural roads cross this open, quiet frame.
