Courcelles lies in the province of Hainaut, just west of Charleroi, on land that was once part of the Walloon coal basin. The municipality brings together several former villages, including Trazegnies, Souvret, Forchies-la-Marche and Gouy-lez-Piéton, and on a map they appear as separate clusters linked by roads through farmland rather than as a single compact town.
The mining past is still legible in the layout: rows of workers’ housing along the main roads, railway alignments and spoil heaps now covered with trees. At Trazegnies stands a castle whose origins go back to the Middle Ages, one of the most notable historic buildings in the area. Between the villages, open fields keep a rural character remarkably close to the city.
A Courcelles map poster shows this patchwork clearly: several small centres, the lines connecting them and green space in between. It is a good choice for families who have lived in one of the villages for generations, since each part of the commune is visible and recognisable on the same sheet.

Courcelles, Souvret, Forchies-la-Marche, Trazegnies and Gouy-lez-Piéton each keep their own centre, giving the map several small hubs rather than one downtown.
Old mining land shows up as wooded heaps, rail lines and long terraced streets, a landscape shaped by industry that has softened over time.

Koteā ko Courcelles
For many Walloon families, Courcelles is where grandparents worked, married and settled. The map gathers all of its villages into one picture, a quiet portrait of a place with deep working roots.
