Te mapa
Drummondville lies in the Centre-du-Québec region, on the Saint-François River, roughly midway between Montreal and Quebec City. The river curves through the city, and its rapids and dams made the site useful for early mills and later for industry. On a map, the river is the clearest feature, dividing the city into banks joined by several bridges.
The town was founded in 1815 as a military settlement by Frederick George Heriot and named after Sir Gordon Drummond, then administrator of Lower Canada. Today it is known for the Village Québécois d'Antan, a heritage village museum, and for its international folklore festival held each summer.
A Drummondville map poster shows the river's bends, the downtown streets beside the water and the suburban neighbourhoods spreading outward. Highway 20 and Highway 55 meet nearby, and their broad curves frame the city's outer edge.

Highway 20 and Highway 55 meet near the city, their large ramps and curves forming a clear geometric shape at its edge.
The oldest streets gather near the river, where the town was founded as a military settlement in 1815, before spreading outward into residential neighbourhoods.
