Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen lies just north of Karlsruhe on the flat plain of the Upper Rhine. The municipality was formed in 1975, when the villages of Eggenstein and Leopoldshafen were combined. On the map the two cores remain distinct: compact village centres linked by a main road and surrounded by newer residential streets.
To the west, the landscape is shaped by the Rhine. Former river channels, floodplain forest and flooded gravel pits form a complex pattern of water and woodland. The old harbour at Leopoldshafen recalls the time when the village was a Rhine port. From above, this watery edge contrasts with the tidy streets inland.
On the forested eastern side lies KIT Campus North, part of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and formerly the Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Centre. An Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen map poster shows all three layers: the Rhine floodplain, the twin villages and the large research site among the trees.
Old river arms, meadows and gravel lakes lie along the western side. They create an intricate, watery pattern that frames the villages.
Eggenstein and Leopoldshafen each keep a denser historic centre, linked by a main road and surrounded by later residential streets.
A large research campus in the forest east of the villages. It appears as a distinct block of buildings and internal roads among the trees.

Koteā ko Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen
For researchers at KIT, families who have settled here and anyone who grew up along this stretch of the Rhine, the map captures a place where village life, water and science share the same ground. It works well in a study or home office.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, for example with a date or a family name. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. HD files in six sizes cost $9, and printed posters ship from nearby partners.
