Te mapa
Esquimalt is a township on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, bordering Victoria to the east. Its map is dominated by water: Esquimalt Harbour to the west, the Strait of Juan de Fuca to the south and the Gorge Waterway along the north. Between them lies a compact area of residential streets, parks and naval land, edged by a rugged coastline of bays and rocky points.
The harbour has been a naval anchorage since the nineteenth century and is today home to Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt, the Pacific base of the Royal Canadian Navy. Dockyards, jetties and a large graving dock line the waterfront. Along the southern shore, parks such as Saxe Point and Macaulay Point look across the strait toward the Olympic Mountains.
An Esquimalt map poster turns this intricate edge into the main subject. The jagged outline of harbour and coast, the long jetties and the straight residential streets inland create a strong contrast between built order and natural shoreline. It is a small place on paper, but one with an unusually expressive shape.
A sheltered, deep inlet with naval jetties and the graving dock, drawn as a large irregular body of water that anchors the western side of the map.
Small coves and rocky points face the Strait of Juan de Fuca, giving the coast a finely broken outline that holds up well in every print size.
The narrow tidal inlet along the north curves inland toward Victoria, a thin ribbon of water that closes the township on its third side.

Koteā ko Esquimalt
Esquimalt is often chosen by sailors, naval families and former base personnel, as well as residents who love its coastline. A posting there can be remembered with a precise, lasting image of the harbour where it happened.
Add a ship name, a unit or the years of a posting to the title and subtitle, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Noir and Blueprint suit the naval harbour; Classic black & white, Paper and Sand are softer options.
