Te mapa
Farīdkot is a district headquarters in the Malwa region of Punjab, set on a level, intensively farmed plain. On a map the city appears as a dense core of older streets around the fort, ringed by newer neighbourhoods. Straight roads, rail lines and canals run out from it across a patchwork of fields.
The town is traditionally said to take its name from the Sufi saint Baba Farid, and it was the capital of the princely state of Faridkot until 1948. The fort in the centre, Qila Mubarak, is linked to the state's former Sikh ruling family and remains the city's most prominent landmark. Faridkot is also home to a university of health sciences.
A Farīdkot map poster shows the contrast between the irregular lanes of the historic centre and the straight engineering of the surrounding plain, where canals and roads cut clean lines through the fields. The result is a clear, graphic print that reflects both the city's princely past and its agricultural present.
Qila Mubarak sits at the heart of the city, surrounded by narrow, irregular lanes that make the old centre the densest area of the map.
Canals run across the plain near the city, long straight lines that divide the farmland and give the outer map a precise, engineered look.
Beyond the built-up area, fields and village roads form a gentle grid, a quiet texture typical of the fertile Malwa plain of Punjab.
