Fazilka lies in the far southwest of Indian Punjab, close to the border with Pakistan and near the Sutlej river. It is the administrative centre of its district. The land around it is some of the flattest in the region and heavily irrigated, so the map shows a dense town core surrounded by wide agricultural ground cut by canals and straight rural roads.
The older part of the town is tightly packed, with narrow streets around market areas. Newer districts spread outward in looser blocks. West of the town, roads head toward the border, where the Sadqi post holds a daily flag ceremony. On the map, that direction becomes quieter and emptier as the settlement falls away into fields.
