Te mapa
Ginsheim-Gustavsburg is a town in Hesse made up of two parts, Ginsheim and Gustavsburg, on the right bank of the Rhine directly across from Mainz. Its map is dominated by water: the Main flows into the Rhine at the town's edge, and side channels of the Rhine separate wooded islands from the shore.
Gustavsburg takes its name from a fortress built by the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus during the Thirty Years' War to control the river confluence. In the industrial era, the site became home to a large steel-construction works that produced bridges and structures used across Germany and beyond.
Ginsheim, the older village, sits further along the Rhine with a quieter residential layout and an old river arm nearby. A Ginsheim-Gustavsburg map poster shows two settlements shaped by rivers, with bridges, rail lines and the city of Mainz framing the view on the opposite bank.
The Main joins the Rhine at Gustavsburg, a meeting of two major rivers that forms a broad, open shape and gives the map its defining feature.
Along the shore, side channels and an old arm of the Rhine separate wooded islands from the land, adding a layer of soft, irregular water shapes.
The city of Mainz sits on the opposite bank, connected by bridges, so the map can show both the town and the regional capital facing each other.
