Hafshejān lies in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, in the central Zagros Mountains of western Iran, a short distance from the provincial capital Shahrekord. The region is one of the highest inhabited plateaus in the country, and the town sits on open ground surrounded by farmland and distant ridges.
From above the town has a compact, fairly regular layout. Main roads run through the centre, with residential blocks arranged around them and newer streets extending toward the fields. Beyond the edges, irrigated plots and field boundaries form a patchwork pattern that changes texture as the ground rises toward the hills.
