Te mapa
Haripur sits on a flat, fertile plain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the lowlands begin to rise toward the Hazara hills. From above, the town shows a dense core of narrow lanes, and roads fan out from it toward villages, fields and the hills on the horizon. The ground is mostly level, so the street network spreads evenly across the plain and thins out gradually into farmland.
The town was founded in the early nineteenth century and takes its name from Hari Singh Nalwa, a Sikh general who laid it out as a fortified settlement. That planned origin still shows in the more regular blocks near the centre. Later growth added looser streets, and the result is a clear contrast between the tight old quarter and the newer outer layers.
A Haripur map poster shows the town the way it relates to its landscape, a settled plain edged by high ground. The region is also known for its water. The Tarbela reservoir on the Indus lies to the west and the Khanpur reservoir to the south, so wide stretches of open water frame the district on a regional view.
The nineteenth-century founding left a compact centre where lanes run close together. At poster scale it reads as the darkest, most tightly knit part of the town.
Routes leave the centre in several directions across level farmland, drawing long, fairly straight lines that tie Haripur to the surrounding villages and the wider Hazara region.
Along the edges of the frame the flat grid gives way to the first hills. The street pattern breaks up there into scattered roads that follow the terrain.
